1. Did anyone critique your work this week? If so, what were their impressions?
i have group crit next thursday.
Heide:
-i need to develop a way of looking.
-think hard about a "two way mirror" as a way to create work
-What about the stage do i like? why? what is it about performance?
-consider my own perspective instead if blanket assumptions and statements.
-be less reactionary, more honest
-what creates desire?
-look more inward
-what do i find sexy? what is feminism for me? THEN look for theory that falls in line with this.
Alix:
-the point of the work becomes clear very quickly.
-more momentum is needed.
-bit obvious.
-backstory is more interesting.
-wardrobe is problematic.
-dont gemeralize.
-theres a difference between being literal and specific.
-pose questions, not critiques.
(there was more, but it was more conversation based about the movie The Wressler with reference to my work)
2. What was the most motivational or creative moment of the past week?
The idea of closing in too much (Glitter Dick), then pulling out too much (Shoe Performance), and now going back in again to hopefully nail it. I will get fucked in crit on thursday, though. ha!
3. What do you want to achieve in next week's studio practice?
This will depend entirely upon the direction of crit. I need some eyes and some thoughts.
4. What did you achieve in your studio this past week?
I did a few interviews which im not using. at all. not even capturing the footage. no. Im not doing it.
Im currently working on a sketch video that ill show thursday. Then i have to research youtube booty shaking videos because i feel like i need to comment on that somehow.
5. What was the most profound thought in relation to your practice this week?
Maybe its a better idea to think, then read theory, as opposed to the other way around.
I also love old industrial from the 80's. ask steph, shell tell you.
