I chose the word "personal" as the first word relating to my work because without this base, there is no point from which i can begin to have any discussion regarding "big picture" issues or subjects. My work, although attempting to break from the inaccessibility of my attachment to it, is intimate and the current themes i work with come from the intensely personal moral/ethical/physical dilemmas of the lifestyle i have chosen to keep and the results and consequences of such decisions. "Personal" is a blanket term, encompassing many aspects of ones life, yet depending on context, still can be specific enough to narrow down to one or two themes or subjects, thus making it appropriate in many instances when in need of a descriptive term.

The following is a quote from a book called Solipsist by Henry Rollins. It deals with the idea of the personal, in that, it talks about the personal being the only thing that can be known and valid:
