performance, power and access?

Performance
1 a: the execution of an action b: something accomplished : deed , feat
2: the fulfillment of a claim, promise, or request : implementation
3 a: the action of representing a character in a play b: a public presentation or exhibition. a benefit performance
4 a: the ability to perform : efficiency b: the manner in which a mechanism performs
5: the manner of reacting to stimuli : behavior
6: the linguistic behavior of an individual : parole ; also : the ability to speak a certain language — compare competence 3

I chose the word performance because this word encompasses many sub topics I discuss within my artwork. Performance can have many metaphors and can be discussed in many different ways. Much of my work in the last three years has somehow been centered around this term. When asked what the work is about in its most basic way of existing, performance is the first word that comes to mind.

Power
1 a (1): ability to act or produce an effect (2): ability to get extra-base hits (3): capacity for being acted upon or undergoing an effect b: legal or official authority, capacity, or right
2 a: possession of control, authority, or influence over others b: one having such power ; specifically : a sovereign state c: a controlling group : establishment —often used in the phrase the powers that be darchaic : a force of armed men echiefly dialect : a large number or quantity
3 a: physical might b: mental or moral efficacy c: political control or influence
4plural : an order of angels — see celestial hierarchy
5 a: the number of times as indicated by an exponent that a number occurs as a factor in a product <5 to the third power is 125> ; also : the product itself <8 is a power of 2> b: cardinal number 2
6 a: a source or means of supplying energy ; especially : electricity b: motive power c: the time rate at which work is done or energy emitted or transferred
7: magnification 2b
8: 1scope 3
9: the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis in a statistical test when a particular alternative hypothesis happens to be true

Power and performance exist hand in hand. Performance, according to me, references power. One could perform to subvert power, gain power, fit into power, reject power, or any combination of those. This could be a conscious or subconscious motivation for performance. My work examines power with regards to why, who, what and how it comes to exist.

Access
1 a: onset 2 b: a fit of intense feeling : outburst
2 a: permission, liberty, or ability to enter, approach, or pass to and from a place or to approach or communicate with a person or thing b: freedom or ability to obtain or make use of something c: a way or means of access d: the act or an instance of accessing
3: an increase by addition "a sudden access of wealth"

The decision a person makes to choose what about themselves to reveal or not to reveal depends upon the power motive and performance itself. Sometimes access is created, sometimes it is denied and other times it is only an illusion. Power and performance cannot exist without access.
